Endodontic therapy (also know as a root canal) removes infection from the pulp of a tooth and protects the decontaminated tooth from future infection. The nerve tissue and blood vessels are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned with tiny files and irrigating solutions. The decontaminated canals are then filled with a filling material.
