Dental bleaching, also known as tooth whitening is a common procedure in general dentistry, but most especially in the field of cosmetic dentistry. It provides effective results to brighten stained or dull teeth. According to the FDA, whitening restores natural tooth color and bleaching whitens beyond the natural color.
Custom Whitening Trays
Customized trays are made by taking an impression of your teeth to make reusable molds to apply the whitening gel. To apply the gel, squeeze a drop into the tray for each tooth surface. Whitening gels vary in strength, so be sure to follow the directions given to you by Dr. Lindahl. In as little as 20 minutes a day for one week, you will see results. This process can erase most stains from coffee drinking and tobacco, as well as tooth yellowing associated with aging, producing a brilliant, bright white smile.
Alternatives To Whitening
Teeth whitening may not be an appropriate treatment for all stains. For hard-to-treat stains, porcelain veneers or crowns are a better option.
